Prologue: The Player's Journey Begins

This scene marks the player's entry into the game world, initiating the narrative and core mechanics. The experience begins in a grand, dimly lit library, an atmosphere designed to be simple and spacious to avoid overwhelming players who might be experiencing VR for the first time. The setting, characterized by towering bookshelves and dramatic shadows, focuses the player's attention on the crucial starting point. The player is subtly guided toward a green water pump, and only once they activate it does the Narrator appear to introduce the story. From there, the player is led through three distinct tutorial areas designed to naturally integrate them with the game's systems and underlying lore.

I was responsible for the design, implementation, and level artistry of all three areas, which included hands-on 3D modeling and environment setup (Set Dressing, Lighting, Technical Setup and Optimization)

It was challenging to successfully build this Scene/Experience, especially due hardware constraints and optimization need. This was only possible through close collaboration with other peers in the team, who provided me crucial support for the complex technical integrations, and low-level optimizations required for the scene to run flawlessly in VR.
